Apprentices pay tuition fees for their technical training like other post-secondary students.
Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits are available for apprentices while attending technical training if they have worked sufficient hours to establish an EI claim. Sometimes EI benefits are not enough to meet the apprentice's costs while in technical training, OR the apprentice may not have worked sufficient hours to be eligible for EI benefits. In these situations, apprentices may also qualify for grants to help pay for tuition, books, supplies and general living expenses.
The Government of Canada offers tax measures to assist those involved in apprenticeship training.

The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarships provide approximately 165 annual awards of $1,000 each.
The scholarships are designed to recognize the excellence of Alberta apprentices in a trade, and trainees in a designated occupation, and to encourage recipients to complete their apprenticeship or occupational training programs. Apprentices can also apply for scholarships from a variety of other sources including post secondary institutions, private industry and service organizations.
