Prosecution

Offences under the Act, its regulations, or specific sections of the Criminal Code of Canada could result in regulatory or criminal prosecutions. Once a prosecution has commenced, Alberta Justice and Solicitor General retains sole discretion in the handling and conduct of the prosecution in accordance with its guidelines.

Offences under the Act may result in fines of up to $50,000. In some cases, non-payment of a fine may be cause for imprisonment under the Provincial Offence Procedure Act
